Bayeux Tapestry to be exhibited in the UK for the first time in nearly 1,000 years

The Bayeux Tapestry, a 70-meter embroidered cloth depicting the Norman Conquest of 1066, will travel to the British Museum in London from September 2026 to July 2027. This marks its first UK exhibition in nearly 1,000 years, symbolizing improved post-Brexit relations between France and the UK. The fragile tapestry's transport presents challenges, but curators are confident in its safe handling. While in the UK, the Bayeux museum will undergo renovations, reopening in October 2027 with a new viewing experience.
