Premier League opener paused after Antoine Semenyo reports racist abuse from the stands

Liverpool's Premier League season opener against Bournemouth was temporarily halted after Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo reported racial abuse from a fan. Referee Anthony Taylor stopped the game, spoke with both managers, and the incident was reported to the police. A 47-year-old man was ejected from Anfield and is under investigation. Merseyside Police are pursuing a football banning order. Semenyo, despite the incident, scored two goals, and later expressed gratitude for the support he received from both teams and fans. The incident prompted strong condemnation from various football authorities.
