The Taliban ban Afghan women from takeover anniversary celebrations

The Taliban marked their fourth anniversary in power with celebrations excluding Afghan women. Around 10,000 men gathered in Kabul for a flower-shower display, while women were barred from parks and many public areas. The event included speeches by cabinet members. Simultaneous protests by Afghan women in Takhar province and Islamabad condemned the Taliban's rule and its restrictions on women's rights and freedoms. Taliban leader Akhundzada warned of divine punishment for ingratitude towards their rule, while emphasizing religious education and the building of more mosques.
