Men celebrate fourth anniversary of Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan

Kabul marked the fourth anniversary of the Taliban's return to power with a flower-shower celebration exclusively for men. Women were barred from attending, continuing a pattern of restrictive policies since the Taliban's takeover in August 2021. The event included speeches by cabinet members, but a planned sports performance was cancelled. Meanwhile, Afghan women in Afghanistan and Pakistan protested the Taliban's rule and its impact on women's rights and freedoms, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis and international condemnation of the Taliban's actions. Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada warned against ingratitude for Islamic rule, while facing international arrest warrants for crimes against humanity.
