Israel rejects UN claims that its forces sexually abused Palestinians

UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned Israel about credible information indicating Israeli forces' involvement in sexual violence and other violations against detained Palestinians. Guterres expressed grave concern over reports from several prisons and a military base, threatening to list Israeli forces as abusers in his next report. Israel's UN ambassador, Danny Danon, dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused Hamas of similar crimes. The UN's access to Israeli sites has been restricted, hindering a definitive determination of patterns of sexual violence. Guterres urged Israel to investigate, implement preventative measures, and grant UN monitors access.
