A Palestinian activist was killed by the violence he sought to stop

Awdah Al Hathaleen, a 31-year-old Palestinian activist and filmmaker, was fatally shot by a settler in the West Bank village of Umm al-Khair. The settler, Yinon Levi, known for attacks on Palestinians, was briefly detained but released without charges. Hathaleen's death highlights escalating settler violence in the region, fueled by Israel's right-wing government. His killing ironically mirrors the themes of his Oscar-winning documentary, "No Other Land." Despite international attention and condemnation, settler violence continues unabated, leaving Palestinian communities vulnerable and fearing further displacement.
