Danielle Spencer, best known for her role as Dee Thomas on the 1970s sitcom "What's Happening!!," passed away at age 60 on August 11th, 2025. Her death was confirmed by former co-star Haywood Nelson. Spencer, who also had a successful career as a veterinarian after earning her doctorate from Tuskegee University, battled cancer for an extended period. She was the first child star inducted into the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture.
