Meteorite that ripped through Georgia homeowner's roof is 20 million years older than Earth, scientist says

A meteorite, older than Earth, crashed into a Georgia home on June 26th. University of Georgia geologist Scott Harris analyzed fragments, dating the meteorite to 4.56 billion years old. The homeowner reported finding space dust in his home. Researchers plan to name it the McDonough Meteorite, marking Georgia's 27th recovered meteorite and 6th witnessed fall. Harris attributes the increased frequency of meteorite discoveries to modern technology and public awareness.
