At least six Lebanese soldiers died in a weapons depot explosion during a dismantling operation in southern Lebanon's Tyre region. The army stated the unit was disassembling the depot's contents when the explosion occurred, with additional soldiers injured. An investigation is underway. This incident follows the discovery of a large Hezbollah weapons cache and comes amidst ongoing efforts by the Lebanese army, alongside UNIFIL, to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure as part of a ceasefire deal with Israel. The Lebanese government recently approved US-backed plans to disarm Hezbollah, a move the group rejected.
