Proposed spacecraft could carry up to 2,400 people on a one-way trip to the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri

A team of engineers designed 'Chrysalis', a spacecraft capable of transporting 2,400 people on a 400-year one-way journey to Alpha Centauri. The multigenerational vessel, measuring 36 miles long, features a layered design including living quarters, farms, and industrial facilities, powered by nuclear fusion. Before launch, future inhabitants would undergo 70-80 years of Antarctic adaptation. Chrysalis won a design competition for its innovative and detailed plan, although the required technology remains largely hypothetical.
