Friendship flight to commemorate 80 years since WWII atomic bombings on Japan

A Japanese pilot, Shinji Maeda, and a former US military officer, Adrian Eichhorn, will fly together over Wendover Field in Utah, a significant site in the Manhattan Project, on the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. Their flight symbolizes the improved US-Japan relationship since WWII, where their families were on opposing sides. Both men are accomplished pilots who met in 2019 and formed a strong bond, highlighting the power of friendship and reconciliation. They hope their symbolic flight promotes reflection on the events of 1945 and the importance of learning from history.
