A United Airlines Boeing 787 flight from Washington Dulles to Munich declared an emergency on Friday due to a left engine failure at 5,000 feet. Air traffic control cleared the airspace, allowing the aircraft to safely return to Dulles after entering a holding pattern. Fire and rescue teams met the plane upon landing, and all passengers were safely deplaned and rebooked. United is investigating the engine issue.
