Boston Celtics deal Georges Niang to Utah Jazz, sign free agent forward Chris Boucher

The Boston Celtics traded forward Georges Niang and two second-round picks to the Utah Jazz for rookie wing RJ Luis Jr. This move helps the Celtics alleviate their salary cap issues, freeing up approximately $7.8 million below the second apron and saving $34 million in luxury tax penalties. Niang's salary is absorbed within the Jazz's existing trade exception. The Celtics also signed free agent forward Chris Boucher to a one-year deal. Luis, the reigning Big East Player of the Year, will aim to establish a role in Boston.
