Australia will purchase 11 Japanese Mogami-class frigates from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for $6 billion over 10 years. This is Japan's largest defense export deal since WWII and strengthens the security partnership between the two countries. The frigates, equipped with long-range missiles, will enhance Australia's navy, bolstering its deterrence capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
