A United Airlines Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner experienced a left engine failure shortly after takeoff from Washington Dulles International Airport on July 25th. The pilot declared a Mayday emergency, and the plane, carrying 219 passengers and 11 crew, safely returned to Dulles after dumping fuel.
