Boeing defence workers set to strike in new blow to aviation giant

Over 3,000 Boeing defense workers, members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), will strike on Monday. The walkout, the first at Boeing's defense business since 1996, follows the rejection of a contract offer concerning pay, work schedules, and pensions. This adds to Boeing's challenges, including recent safety issues and a costly strike last year at its passenger jet division. The union cites inadequate compensation and a lack of respect for workers' contributions to national defense. The strike affects F-15 fighter jet and other military aircraft production in Missouri and Illinois.
