A Minke whale died in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, after being struck by a boat on Saturday. The incident, near the inlet, also resulted in a boat nearly capsizing and a passenger briefly going overboard. The whale, approximately 20 feet long, was found on a sandbar. Due to tidal conditions, a necropsy will be conducted on Monday at Island Beach State Park. Boaters are urged to maintain a 150-foot distance from the carcass.
