A group led by Boston Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca agreed to purchase the Connecticut Sun WNBA team for a record $325 million, intending to relocate the franchise to Boston by 2027. Pagliuca will also invest $100 million in a new Boston practice facility. The sale requires WNBA approval. This acquisition comes amidst the WNBA's expansion and increased investment in teams, despite the Sun's current last-place standing and recent player departures. The Sun's previous owners, the Mohegan Tribe, bought the team for $10 million in 2003.
