Diamondbacks Trade Merrill Kelly to Rangers | JQJO

The Arizona Diamondbacks traded veteran starting pitcher Merrill Kelly to the Texas Rangers before Thursday's trade deadline. In return, Arizona received three pitching prospects: Kohl Drake, David Hagaman, and Mitch Bratt. This move follows other recent trades by the Diamondbacks as they appear to be shifting towards a rebuilding phase. Kelly, a key member of the Diamondbacks' rotation for several seasons, is nearing free agency and had expressed a desire to reach 10 years of MLB service time. The Rangers, currently vying for a playoff spot, add Kelly to a rotation already featuring prominent names.
