Proton releases a new app for two-factor authentication

Proton, a privacy-focused company, launched a free, open-source two-factor authentication (2FA) app called Proton Authenticator. Available across all major platforms, it offers end-to-end encryption and syncing across devices. Unlike SMS-based 2FA, Proton Authenticator protects against SIM swapping attacks. The app allows for easy code import and offline functionality, emphasizing security and convenience without relying on Google or Microsoft. This launch follows Proton's recent release of a privacy-focused AI chatbot.
