Sweida violence tests Druze loyalty to Syria in Golan Heights : NPR

Druze residents of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, while maintaining strong loyalty to Syria, are deeply disillusioned by recent sectarian violence in southern Syria. Over 1,000 people have been killed in clashes between Sunni tribes, Syrian government forces, and Druze factions. This violence has challenged the fragile interim Syrian government, led by Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda affiliate. While some Druze in the Golan welcomed Israeli airstrikes in Syria, others fear this will further endanger their community. The situation highlights the complex interplay of loyalty, conflict, and the precarious position of minority groups within Syria.
