Angola's petrol protest death toll rises to 22 as medics overwhelmed

Fuel price hikes in Angola sparked widespread protests, resulting in at least 22 deaths and over 200 injuries, according to Interior Minister Manuel Homem. Over 1,200 arrests were made as taxi driver strikes escalated into nationwide unrest, marked by looting and destruction of businesses. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and the death toll may be higher. President João Lourenço claims the protests are a pretext to undermine the government, while the opposition blames government policies and corruption. Several embassies issued security warnings, and a flight was cancelled due to the situation.
