North Korea says US must accept its status as a nuclear weapons state

Kim Yo Jong, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's sister, declared that denuclearization talks are futile, asserting North Korea's nuclear status as irreversible. She urged the US to accept this reality, warning that any attempt to pressure denuclearization would be seen as mockery. While acknowledging a non-hostile relationship between her brother and President Trump, she stressed that past personal relations shouldn't be leveraged for denuclearization. Kim Yo Jong's statement follows a White House official's suggestion of renewed engagement with Kim Jong Un to achieve a fully denuclearized North Korea. Experts believe that any future negotiations would require a fundamentally different approach, moving beyond the denuclearization focus.
