US-China talks restart as hopes grow for trade war truce extension

US and China have restarted trade talks in Sweden, aiming for a 90-day extension to their truce, which is set to expire on August 12. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Vice Premier He Lifeng are leading the negotiations. Reports suggest a truce extension is likely, with the US reportedly freezing some technology export restrictions to facilitate talks and a potential meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi. This follows recent US trade deals with the EU, Japan, UK, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
