Russia starts direct commercial flights between Moscow and Pyongyang

Russia has resumed regular flights between Moscow and Pyongyang, signifying strengthening ties between the two nations. A Nordwind Airlines flight carrying over 400 passengers inaugurated the monthly service from Sheremetyevo Airport. This follows Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov's recent visit to North Korea, where he promoted tourism to the new Wonsan-Kalma beach resort. The move coincides with North Korea's gradual reopening of borders after pandemic restrictions, though full tourism resumption remains unconfirmed. The increased air links reflect the deepening military and political cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
