21 killed in attack on east Congo church by Islamic State-backed rebels, civil leader says

At least 21 people were killed in an attack on a Catholic church in eastern Congo's Ituri province. The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a group with ties to the Islamic State, is blamed for the early morning assault in Komanda town. Reports vary on the death toll, ranging from 10 to over 40. Several houses and shops were also burned. The attack comes amid ongoing conflict in the region, with the ADF responsible for numerous killings in recent years. Local officials are calling for immediate military intervention.
