Yankees acquire third baseman Ryan McMahon from Rockies for prospects

The New York Yankees acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies for two minor league pitchers, Josh Grosz and Griffin Herring. McMahon, a former All-Star, is hitting .217 this season but showed improvement after the break. The Yankees, struggling in the AL East, hope McMahon boosts their offense and helps them reach the postseason. McMahon is owed approximately $36.2 million on his contract. The move comes after the Yankees released DJ LeMahieu and shifted Jazz Chisholm Jr. to second base.
