Explaining Christian Wilkins’ grievance against Raiders after his abrupt release

The NFL Players Association filed a grievance against the Las Vegas Raiders on behalf of Christian Wilkins, following his release. Wilkins, who signed a four-year, $110 million contract, suffered a Jones fracture and the Raiders voided $35.2 million in guaranteed money after a dispute over his recovery. The grievance, filed on the deadline, challenges the Raiders' decision to void the guaranteed money, not the release itself. An arbitrator will hear the case, with the NFLPA aiming to prevent setting a precedent for teams voiding player contracts over recovery disagreements. Wilkins is free to sign with another team.
