A border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has resulted in over a dozen deaths and 100,000 evacuations. Thailand possesses a significantly larger and better-equipped military, bolstered by decades of US support and a strong domestic arms industry. Cambodia, however, receives considerable military aid from China, including a naval base. While Thailand holds a substantial military advantage, Cambodia benefits from favorable terrain and has reportedly employed landmines in the disputed border region. The conflict centers on territory disputed since the colonial era.
