Venezuelan migrant sues US after brutal prison ordeal in El Salvador

A Venezuelan migrant, Neiyerver Adrián Leon Rengel, deported to El Salvador under the Trump administration, is suing the U.S. government for $1.3 million. He alleges wrongful deportation to a notorious Salvadoran prison where he was beaten and denied legal counsel. Rengel claims his deportation was based on false accusations of gang affiliation. The U.S. government countered, calling his claims a 'sob story.' A federal judge previously ruled that some deported migrants should be allowed to challenge their deportations, finding significant evidence that many were wrongly accused. The Trump administration ignored a court order to return some migrants, and the judge is considering contempt of court charges.
