Philadelphia's iconic Wanamaker Organ and holiday traditions will return thanks to two new initiatives. A fundraising campaign aims to revive the annual Christmas light show and Dickens Village, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and boosting the city's economy by an estimated $31.7 million. Separately, Opera Philadelphia will launch a fall series, "Pipe Up!," utilizing the Wanamaker Building's vast space for performances. The series, funded by a $1 million grant, will feature collaborations with local arts groups and utilize the building's historic organ.
