Education Department says it will release billions in grant money withheld from schools

The Trump administration has released billions of dollars in school grants after a months-long delay. The funds, initially frozen in July pending review, were earmarked for adult literacy, English language instruction, and after-school programs. The release follows lawsuits and bipartisan pressure from Congress, which had appropriated the money. The Office of Management and Budget completed its review, and the funds will be sent to states next week. The administration had previously claimed some programs promoted a 'radical leftwing agenda,' a claim disputed by numerous senators.
