Air Force says B-52 crew wasn’t told of passenger jet before near-miss

A SkyWest Airlines flight narrowly avoided a collision with a B-52 bomber near Minot International Airport last Friday. The B-52 crew informed air traffic control of their flyover, but the passenger plane's crew was not alerted to the bomber's presence. The pilot of the passenger jet performed an evasive maneuver, captured on video by a passenger. Both planes landed safely. The FAA and SkyWest are investigating the incident, which involved a planned B-52 flyover cleared by the FAA, but lacked sufficient coordination between air traffic control and the B-52 crew regarding the civilian aircraft's approach.
