Florida Everglades Migrant Camp Faces Human Rights, Environmental Scrutiny | JQJO

Hundreds of migrants are detained in a makeshift camp in the Florida Everglades, dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz" by supporters and "Alligator Auschwitz" by opponents. Conditions are described as harsh, with detainees reporting scarce, worm-infested food, flooded floors, extreme heat, and numerous mosquito bites. State officials deny these claims, stating the facility is in good working order. The camp's location in the Everglades raises environmental concerns, particularly regarding exposure to extreme weather, disease, and the impact on the fragile ecosystem. Legal challenges are underway, questioning the facility's legality and raising human rights concerns.
