Over 5.2 million above-ground swimming pools from Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup are being recalled in the US and Canada due to a drowning hazard. Nine child drownings (ages 22 months to 3 years) between 2007 and 2022 are linked to the pools' compression straps, which can provide a foothold for young children. The CPSC and Health Canada are offering free repair kits to replace the straps. Consumers are urged to contact the manufacturers or take preventative measures until repairs are made.
