Over 5.2 million above-ground swimming pools from Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup are being recalled in the US and Canada due to a drowning hazard. Nine child drownings (ages 22 months to 3 years) between 2007 and 2022 are linked to the pools' compression straps, which can provide access for small children. The CPSC and Health Canada urge consumers to contact manufacturers for free repair kits replacing the straps with rope. Until repaired, pool owners should ensure children are supervised or drain the pool.
