Rangers Trade Dunning to Braves in Salary Dump | JQJO

The Texas Rangers traded pitcher Dane Dunning to the Atlanta Braves for minor league reliever José Ruiz and cash considerations. This move is a salary dump for the Rangers, who are aiming to stay below the luxury tax threshold. Dunning, who had fallen out of favor in Texas, will likely find a more prominent role in Atlanta's injury-depleted rotation. Ruiz, a journeyman reliever, has struggled this season. The Braves designated Jesse Chavez for assignment to make room for Dunning on their 40-man roster. The Rangers are expected to continue making moves to improve their playoff chances.
