North Korea seaside resort bans foreigners weeks after opening

North Korea's newly opened Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone, boasting a water park and other amenities, has abruptly banned foreign tourists. This follows the recent arrival of the first Russian tourists and a visit from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The resort, a key part of Kim Jong Un's tourism ambitions, was initially promoted to both domestic and international visitors. The ban's reason remains unstated, despite planned future trips and the launch of direct Moscow-Pyongyang flights. The resort's construction, completed in June, has been marred by allegations of worker mistreatment.
