Khaled Mohamed Ali El Hishri, a Libyan suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity at Tripoli's Mitiga Prison, was arrested in Germany on an ICC warrant. The arrest relates to alleged atrocities committed between 2015 and 2020, including murder, torture, and rape. The ICC issued the warrant following the UN Security Council's referral of the Libyan situation in 2011 after the Gaddafi regime's overthrow. Hishri's arrest follows the controversial release of another suspect by Italy earlier this year. He will remain in German custody until transferred to the ICC in The Hague.
