The Perseid meteor shower, visible from July 17th to late August, peaks around August 12th-13th. However, a full moon will hinder viewing at the peak. For optimal viewing, observe from July 18th-28th, when the moon is darker. Best viewing is between 2-4 a.m., with up to 100 meteors per hour possible. The shower originates from the Swift-Tuttle comet's debris. Northern latitudes offer the best viewing experience.
