Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, a Lebanese pro-Palestinian activist imprisoned in France for 40 years for the murder of two diplomats, will be released on July 25th. The release, ordered by a Paris appeals court, is conditional on his leaving France and never returning. His brother expressed joy, while his lawyer called it a victory. While prosecutors could appeal, Abdallah, who maintains he is a political fighter, is expected to be deported to Lebanon. The US, a civil party in the case, had opposed his release for years.
