UK offered to speed up resettlement case of Afghan who posted leaked data online

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) expedited the resettlement application of an Afghan national who posted names from a leaked database of Afghan relocation applicants on Facebook. The man obtained the data from a 2022 accidental data breach within UK Special Forces headquarters. In exchange for removing the data, the MoD fast-tracked his application, and he is now in the UK. The incident highlights concerns about data security and the chaotic handling of the Afghan resettlement process, with some suggesting the man essentially 'blackmailed' his way into the country. The MoD refuses to comment on specifics, citing security checks for all relocation applicants.
