Box Office Battle: New Releases Face Tough Competition | JQJO

Box office projections show a challenging weekend for new releases. James Gunn's "Superman" is expected to see a significant drop in its second weekend, grossing around $60 million. Paramount's "Smurfs" reboot, starring Rihanna, is predicted to open in the single digits to $12 million, underperforming previous installments. Sony's remake of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is projected for a $13-$17 million opening. A24's "Eddington", starring Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix, is expected to perform poorly, with an opening under $5 million. Despite the competition from established franchises, the box office still anticipates some revenue.
