Latest US inflation report shows a pullback in travel spending and an increase in the cost of goods

US wholesale inflation remained flat in June, defying expectations of a 0.2% rise. A decline in travel and services masked a price increase in goods. Economists note that tariffs are raising manufactured goods prices, but weak demand kept overall inflation low. The Producer Price Index (PPI) was unchanged from May, while the annual rate slowed to -2.3%. However, experts warn that this masks underlying inflationary pressures, with finished consumer goods prices rising. The drop in services, particularly travel, reflects reduced consumer spending amid economic uncertainty.
