A wildfire, the Dragon Bravo Fire, destroyed the historic Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim, along with 50-80 other structures. The fire, fueled by extreme heat and strong winds, scorched over 5,000 acres. A chlorine gas leak hampered firefighting efforts. All personnel were evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The North Rim will remain closed for the rest of 2025. Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs expressed sadness and called for improved emergency response.
