A wildfire destroyed the Grand Canyon's North Rim Lodge and approximately 50-80 other structures, including a visitor center and wastewater treatment plant. The Dragon Bravo Fire, initially a controlled burn, rapidly spread due to hot temperatures and wind. The North Rim was evacuated Thursday, and firefighters and hikers were also evacuated over the weekend due to fire and potential chlorine gas exposure from the damaged treatment plant. While no injuries have been reported, the loss of the historic lodge, a key landmark for visitors, is significant. Progress is being made on a second nearby wildfire, the White Sage Fire.
