A wildfire has destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge and other structures on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. The Bravo Dragon fire, initially a controlled burn, rapidly spread, consuming the lodge, visitor center, gas station, and more. The fire, sparked by lightning on July 4th, also released chlorine gas from a damaged water treatment plant, prompting evacuations. The North Rim, open seasonally, was already under evacuation due to the wildfire. While progress is being made on a second nearby fire, the damage to the North Rim is significant.
