Following devastating Texas floods that left at least 120 dead and over 170 missing, volunteers are working tirelessly to reunite lost pets with their owners. Hundreds of pets have been reported missing. Sherry Sweeney, a volunteer with Austin Pets Alive!, is focusing on rescuing cats, which are harder to find than dogs amidst the debris. She successfully reunited one cat, Rambo, with his overjoyed owner, Cindy McCarthey, who lost another cat in the flood. Local shelters like Kerrville Pets Alive are providing veterinary care and coordinating reunification efforts, playing a crucial role in the emotional recovery process for many residents.
