Nigeria pushes back on U.S. deportation demands : NPR

Nigeria firmly rejected US pressure to accept deportees from Venezuela and other countries. Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar cited Nigeria's large population and existing challenges as reasons for refusal. This rejection follows reports that the Trump administration urged several African nations to accept third-country deportees, using the threat of tariffs and visa restrictions. While Nigeria engages in talks with the US regarding trade deals, it maintains its stance against accepting deportees, asserting its national sovereignty.
