Atlantic Ocean's Nanoplastic Problem Revealed in Shocking New Study

A new study in Nature reveals a shocking abundance of nanoplastics in the North Atlantic Ocean. Researchers from Utrecht University found 27 million tonnes of nanoplastics, exceeding the amount of larger microplastics. The nanoplastics, originating from common plastics like PET and PS, were found at all depths, concentrated near coasts and in the subtropical gyre. While the full ecological impact remains unclear, the study underscores the urgent need to prevent further plastic pollution.
